Asian Salad Dressing

1/8 t black pepper, freshly ground
1/4 t table salt
2 T vegetable oil
1 T soy sauce
2 T red wine vinegar
1/2 t toasted sesame oil
2 t packed brown sugar
1 T creamy peanut butter
1/2 t grated fresh ginger (or Trader Joe's ginger paste)
1 clove garlic
1 green onion

Mix all the dressing ingredients except the garlic and green onion.
Peel the garlic and lightly crush it with the flat side of a big knife.
Stir the chunk of garlic into the dressing and let it sit for 1/2 hour or so, then fish it out and discard it.
Thinly slice the green onion (both white and green parts) and stir it into the dressing.
